about

Happy St. Nicholas Day! December 6th in my suburban Long Island Catholic school influenced upbringing, was always a day where a single small gift is exchanged between loved ones. Everybody who knows me knows I love Christmas music as much as the season itself, and everyone who knows me knows every year I spend the entire month of December recording a Christmas album for friends and family for Christmas eve every year. Though I have never been able to release these records much earlier than Christmas itself, I have heard the calls of friends and relatives to do so. In this spirit on December 6th, St. Nicholas day, a day of small gifts and great love, I release a single to hold everyone over til the album is complete and released on Christmas eve. This will be my last single of the decade, so I implore you to warm up the oven, mix up the drinks, tie those bows, hang the tinsel on the tree, and get cozy with your loves this holiday season. This song is called “A Christmas Wish” and it was sung originally as a duet between John Denver and Kermit the Frog way back in 1979. I owe it to my parents for making this record a staple at Christmas time in my childhood. It’s a song that is as much about Love as it is about peace, and a certain line from the song sums up what this rambling and most likely grammatically askew Facebook post is really all about. “And I reach out my hand, to the family of man, to share the joy I feel at Christmas time.” Happy St. Nicholas Day!

lyrics

I don't know if you believe in Christmas,
or if you have presents underneath the Christmas tree.
But if you believe in love, that will be more than enough
for you to come and celebrate with me.
For I have held the precious gift that love brings
even though I've never saw a Christmas star.
But I know there is a light, I have felt it burn inside,
and I can see it shining from afar.
Christmas is a time to come together,
a time to put all differences aside.
And I reach out my hand to the family of man
to share the joy I feel at Christmas time.
For the truth that binds us all together,
I would like to say a simple prayer.
That at this special time, you will have true peace of mind
and love to last throughout the coming year.
And if you believe in love, that will be more than enough
for peace to last throughout the coming year.
And peace on earth will last throughout the year.
